Mot à Mot — meaning word for word in French — is a micro-library and community installation located in Trotter Park, Pincourt, Québec. Designed in collaboration with 24 Grade 5 Girl Guides and the City of Pincourt, the project gives the neighborhood a free book exchange rooted in trust — take a book, leave a book, no questions asked.
The installation is more than a bookshelf. It is a small public room — a walk-in space for browsing, a chalkboard wall for community conversation, and a seating area for slowing down. Pincourt's first architectural installation, it quietly raises the bar for what public design can do in a small town.
The community's response said everything. So popular that its planned winter removal was reconsidered entirely, Mot à Mot was relocated to the local mall for year-round availability - kept alive by the very people it was built for.
A collaboration between Atelier MIM and Kanchan Quinlan, with the 24th Pincourt Girl Guides and the City of Pincourt.
