To celebrate its 15 years of excellence and Michelin recognition, Damas — one of Canada’s most acclaimed restaurants — entrusted Atelier MIM with reviving its dining space. The goal was to honor the restaurant’s heritage while introducing a bold, contemporary design for its next chapter.
Le défi consistait à agrandir et moderniser un restaurant emblématique sans en altérer l’âme. La nouvelle salle à manger devait respecter le caractère existant tout en rehaussant l’expérience des convives avec une atmosphère raffinée et actuelle. The challenge was to expand and refresh a landmark restaurant without losing its soul. The new dining hall had to respect the existing character while elevating the guest experience with a refined, modern atmosphere.
Atelier MIM a conçu une nouvelle salle à manger mettant en valeur des matériaux nobles comme le marbre et le quartz, avec un sol spectaculaire évoquant un tapis oriental. Un rideau métallique dramatique encadre l’espace : il protège les murs patrimoniaux tout en révélant un « tout nouveau monde » d’élégance orientale. Le concept d’assises s’inspire des fontaines hexagonales traditionnelles des cours syriennes — créant des cercles intimes propices aux retrouvailles, symboles d’authenticité, de patrimoine et du plaisir de partager un repas entre amis et proches dans une ambiance unique. We took the time to truly understand both the spirit of the space and the client’s vision, shaping a design that feels personal and timeless. Through a process of exploration and refinement, the restaurant was reimagined with layers of texture, material, and ambiance that honor its 15 years of legacy.
