Damas Restaurant Interior | Atelier MIM
To celebrate its 15 years of excellence and Michelin recognition, Damas — one of Canada’s most acclaimed restaurants — entrusted Atelier MIM with reviving its dining space. The goal was to honor the restaurant’s heritage while introducing a bold, contemporary design for its next chapter.
The challenge was to expand and refresh a landmark restaurant without losing its soul. The new dining hall had to respect the existing character while elevating the guest experience with a refined, modern atmosphere.
Atelier MIM introduced a new dining hall crafted from prime materials such as marble and quartz, with a striking flooring pattern reminiscent of an oriental rug. A dramatic metal curtain frames the space, at once preserving the existing heritage walls and unveiling a “whole new world” of Middle Eastern elegance. The seating concept draws inspiration from the traditional hexagonal fountains found in Syrian courtyards — creating intimate circles of gathering that embody heritage, authenticity, and the joy of sharing meals with friends and loved ones in a unique ambiance.

We took the time to truly understand the spirit of Damas and the client’s vision, shaping a restaurant design that is both personal and timeless. Through exploration and careful refinement, the space was reimagined with rich materials, layered textures, and a distinctive ambiance that honors 15 years of culinary excellence. The result is a warm, sophisticated, and inviting dining experience that celebrates Damas’s heritage while setting the stage for its future in Montreal’s culinary scene.
